Everyone has a different opinion about you. Some people will judge you by your worst mistakes, and some by your kindest acts. And you have done all those things, the regrettable moments and the inspiring ones - together they make you who you are. But you are the only person who has been through every up and every down and so it is how you judge yourself that matters the most.
There are two things to remember about perception. First, take note of each thing that people say about you, because each one will give you a unique insight on yourself. But keep a special place in your heart, in your mind, for the words from the people who have been with you the longest and known you the deepest. The fact that they have known you through your highs and your lows and not just one single experience, and they still love you, shows you who you really are. Second, you form opinions about people in the same way that they form opinions about you. So, next time you think of someone as annoying or rude or dislikable, be a little kinder than you would have before. You are judging them by the experiences that you have - and that likely does not represent them as a whole. .
So stop for a moment, and be a little kinder, and that kindness will become how others begin to base their perception of you. And as you change your views of the people around you, let that kindness extend to yourself. You may judge yourself by your lows, but if you can see through to the goodness in others, then I promise you can do it for yourself. .
Just as you now have two things about perception to think about, I am giving you two things to do. First, be a little kinder to everyone around you today. Extend it to yourself, your friends and to those who, perhaps, you have not been kind to in the past. And second, take those friends you have known through everything, and remind them that their highs outweigh the lows. They might need to hear it. .
